Student Support Services- Teacher​/Counselor

TRiO Student Support Services Program

Glenville State University is seeking applicants for the TRiO Student Support Services program. This position is a grant funded, benefit eligible, full time 12-month position.

Position Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and assess educational, cultural, and career-related programming inside and outside traditional classroom settings
• Develop and implement recruitment and retention initiatives
• Maintain open office hours for student advising and counseling
• Maintain confidential student data for annual reports
• Act as a representative of the program on campus-wide committees and initiatives

Desired Characteristics

• Knowledge of education issues and barriers faced by first-generation, low-income and/or disabled students
• Enthusiastic/charismatic with a passion for working with college-aged students in an educational setting
• Experience with academic, career, and financial aid advising in a higher education setting
• Knowledge of, and/or experience with, TRiO programs
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Presentation and facilitation skills
• Proven organizational, writing, social media, graphic design, advertising, and publication skills
• Goal-driven, self-motivated, energetic
• Honest and loyal
• Flexible, adaptable, ability to multitask
• Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours

Bachelor's degree required in Adult Education, Education, Counseling, English, or Related Field.
