Resource Teacher for Children with Autism - Itinerant
Direct instructional relationship with the students. Carry out the laws and policies of the State and County relating to education, including rules pertaining to the welfare of the student. Exhibit the ability to manage time, follow a schedule and work independently. Develop materials to be used in the classroom for students with varying intellectual levels. Be willing to instruct students in the acquisition of functional skills.
Research and utilize best practices, current trends, new technology/assistive devices, and teaching strategies geared toward students on the Autism spectrum. Develop IEP's for students on the Autism spectrum within the mandated time lines. Continually evaluate the progress of students. Exhibit a willingness to enhance professional skills through additional training. Foster professional relationships with principals, teachers, and other agencies. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Special Education.
A valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate or eligible for a permit with multi-categorical and autism endorsements through the WVDE to teach Resource Special Education Certification in Autism Experience working with children on the Autism spectrum Knowledge of evidenced based practices specific for students on the Autism spectrum
