Summary:

The Dean of Students at Alcona Middle/High School is responsible for ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students. The Dean of Students will work closely with the school administration, faculty, and staff to promote positive behavior, enforce school policies, and provide guidance and support to students.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives that promote positive behavior, academic success, and student engagement
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify and address student behavior issues and provide appropriate interventions and support
  • Enforce school policies and procedures, including disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Work with students and families to address academic and social-emotional concerns and provide referrals to appropriate resources as needed
  • Coordinate and oversee student activities, events, and clubs
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and community organizations to provide students with opportunities for community service, internships, and job shadowing
  • Manage student records and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Participate in school improvement planning and staff development activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience working with students in a school setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families
  • Knowledge of student behavior management strategies and restorative justice practices
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to student records and confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations and priorities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
