Description

The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University is currently inviting applications for Part‑time Adjunct Teaching Positions in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology ( (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). ) and the Women’s and Gender Studies Program (  ).

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in‑person or online courses in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology or in the Women’s and Gender Studies Program. Generally, individuals with a doctoral degree are eligible to teach graduate or undergraduate courses; individuals with a master’s degree are eligible to teach undergraduate courses.

Applications will be accepted throughout the year and will be considered as openings arise. Salary is established on a per‑course basis.

Qualifications Sociology and Anthropology

The positions in sociology require a master’s or doctoral degree in sociology or a closely related discipline.

The positions in anthropology and criminology require a master’s or doctoral degree in sociology, anthropology, or a closely related discipline.

Women’s and Gender Studies

The positions in Women’s and Gender Studies require a master’s or doctoral degree in Women’s and Gender Studies, LGBTQ+ Studies, or a master’s or doctoral degree in a related discipline with an emphasis on gender and/or LGBTQ+ Studies (as indicated by a Certificate in WGST, for example). Because WGST courses are taught from multi‑ and inter‑disciplinary frameworks, scholars from multiple academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

For all positions, evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level is required.
