Master Teacher

The Master Teacher will attend the required time slot at the New Teacher Academy. The Master Teacher will attend and participate in the first and third evening follow-up sessions of the New Teacher Academy. The Master Teacher will work with Teachers in the New Teacher Induction Program, Teachers in Residence, and Long-term Substitutes. The Master Teacher will provide training sessions and mentor teachers in the Program.

The Master Teacher will model instructional techniques and provide instructional support to all staff. The Master Teacher will also meet once a month after the normal work hours with all the new teachers, Teachers in Residence, and Long-Term Substitutes. The Master Teacher will keep records and submit required documentation at the end of each month to the Central Office designee.

Qualifications include a valid WV Teaching Certificate with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, strong written and communication skills, demonstrated knowledge of instructional strategies and classroom management, strong organizational skills, strong background knowledge of collecting and interpreting educational data for all subject areas, minimum of "Accomplished" on instructional sections of evaluations for past 3 years, demonstrated growth on benchmarks/assessments, letter of recommendation from principal, attendance at mentor professional development sessions, Masters Degree (Preferred), National Board Certificate (Preferred), Master Mentoring Certificate (Preferred), and 5 years of experience (Preferred).

Salary is $5000.00 supplemental contract for work completed outside the regular school day.

Responsibilities include working in collaboration with school administrators to assist with the orientation of Teachers in the New Teacher Induction Program, Teachers in Residence, and Long-term Substitutes, demonstrating lessons for teachers as needed, modeling/teaching instructional strategies as needed, modeling/teaching classroom management strategies as needed, conducting professional development sessions for Teachers in the New Teacher Induction Program, Teachers in Residence, and Long-term Substitutes, observing classroom teaching skills and providing constructive feedback, maintaining documentation and evidence of these activities through logs, sign-in sheets, etc.

and being able to evaluate program success, acting as a liaison between teachers/school/county, maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, county policy and administrative regulations, maintaining professional work habits, being a role model in all aspects of professional conduct, keeping all discussions regarding assigned teachers confidential, providing information to administrators as needed, performing other duties as assigned by school/county offices, and attending Mentor training/Professional development.
