Middle School Music Teacher
The Middle School Music Teacher will instruct students in vocal/instrumental music, theory, and history, fostering musical appreciation in grades 7 and 8. Key responsibilities include creating lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, conducting ensembles, and preparing students for performances, while utilizing technology and differentiating instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction & Curriculum:
Develop and deliver engaging music curricula (general music, band, choir, or orchestra) tailored to young adolescents. - Performance Management:
Organize rehearsals, concerts, and field trips; instruct on proper stage etiquette and performance technique. - Classroom Management:
Establish a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment conducive to creativity. - Assessment:
Evaluate student progress through performances, tests, and portfolios, providing constructive feedback. - Collaboration:
Work with staff on school productions, communicate with parents regarding student progress, and mentor students. - Resource Management:
Maintain and inventory musical instruments, equipment, and sheet music.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field. - Certification:
State-required teacher certification for music. - Skills:
Proficiency in conducting and playing instruments (piano, guitar, etc.); strong communication and classroom management skills.
Terms of Employment: 200 Days Effective School Year Compensation Salary based on experience and education level per Clay County Board of Education Salary Schedule, plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
