Orchestra Teacher; Grades 4-8

Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Orchestra Teacher at Linntown Intermediate School and Donald H. Eichhorn Middle School. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their musical abilities, foster a love for orchestral music, and create an engaging and inclusive learning environment. This full-time position requires strong musical expertise, effective communication skills, and a commitment to student growth and development.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for orchestra classes, aligning with state and national standards.
• Teach students how to play orchestral instruments, including but not limited to strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.
• Conduct rehearsals and prepare students for performances, competitions, and community events.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement and growth.
• Collaborate with other music educators and staff to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
• Organize and lead extracurricular activities, such as orchestral ensembles, masterclasses, and workshops.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and respect for diverse musical backgrounds.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and upcoming events.
• Stay current with trends in music education and incorporate innovative teaching methods and technology into the curriculum.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and musical knowledge.

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field
• Valid teaching certification in Music Education.
• Proven experience teaching orchestra or instrumental music
• Proficiency in playing multiple orchestral instruments.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying skill levels.
• Knowledge of music theory, history, and pedagogy.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
• Experience with technology in music education is a plus.
