POSITION:
Special Education Homebound Teacher
Subject to ongoing student need of homebound instruction.
LOCATION:
Webster Springs
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
Must hold a valid WV Professional Teaching Certificate endorsed in Special Education Multi Cat (MI/LD/BD) K-6 and Autism K-6 preferred.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Previous experience with disabled students, including children having challenging behaviors and autism spectrum disorder, is a plus. The successful applicant will receive further training, including working with a BCBA, to address challenging behaviors.
2. The successful applicant will be expected to complete certification in any area(s) identified in the position for which he/she is not certified. The successful applicant will be required to secure a permit in the event a student is placed under his/her caseload for any area currently not on his/her certification.
3. The successful applicant is required to have Autism Certification or be willing to become certified.
4. The successful applicant will collaborate with other professionals to develop and implement behavior modification plans and utilize appropriate behavior strategies and techniques.
5. The successful applicant will be willing to collaborate with other professionals and to facilitate integration of exceptional students in the least restrictive setting. The successful applicant will be willing to team teach with other Special Education teachers and regular education staff during inclusion.
6. The successful applicant will have or be willing to obtain knowledge and experience in the implementation of educational strategies, alternative curricula, and individualized instructional techniques.
7. The successful applicant will have or be willing to obtain knowledge and understanding of the causes (etiology) of syndromes and conditions resulting in disabilities and their effects on educational practices.
8. This job may require lifting a minimum of 100 pounds vertically.
9. The successful applicant will have or be willing to obtain will be required to follow and implement procedures described in health care plans.
10. The successful applicant will have or be willing to complete specialized training including de-escalation and CPI.
11. The successful applicant must complete all training needed to successfully implement specified special education curricula at the required programmatic levels.
SALARY: $35.00 per hour, up to 8 hours a week
