FLSA STATUS: Exempt

CONTRACT: 210-day contract

SALARY: Based on experience and education level per Pocahontas County Schools salary schedule. See pocahontascountysc for pay scales and benefits information.

Term of employment: Term of employment shall be 210 days each academic year (July 1 through June 30).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Pursuant to WV Code §18A-1-1:

"Classroom teacher" means a professional educator who has a direct instructional or counseling relationship with students and who spends the majority of his or her time in that capacity.

The Interventionist/Part-Time MTSS Coordinator (Grades K-4) is responsible for providing supplemental instruction and intervention services to students identified as needing additional academic support. The employee develops and delivers standards-based instruction aligned with West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards and provides evidence-based interventions designed to improve student achievement and close learning gaps.

The Interventionist / Part-Time MTSS Coordinator (Grades K-4) is responsible for providing supplemental instruction and intervention services to students identified as needing additional academic support. The employee develops and delivers standards-based instruction aligned with the West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards and provides evidence-based interventions designed to improve student achievement and close learning gaps.

In addition to instructional responsibilities, the employee coordinates and supports implementation of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for students in grades K-4 in accordance with West Virginia Department of Education guidance and requirements. Responsibilities include facilitating data-based decision making, coordinating Walk to Intervention services, supporting Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), monitoring student progress, assisting with Student Assistance Team (SAT) processes, maintaining required records, and collaborating with families and school personnel to improve student outcomes.

The Interventionist/MTSS Coordinator performs duties consistent with the expectations of a professional educator as defined by West Virginia Code, West Virginia Board of Education policy, and Pocahontas County Board of Education policy.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate appropriate for the assigned grade level(s).
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience with intervention programs, student support systems, data analysis, and instructional coaching preferred.
  • Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-10
ADDITIONAL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Applicants who have recent unsatisfactory evaluations will not be considered eligible for consideration
  • Applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration
  • Applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations will not be eligible for consideration.
  • Applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district are not eligible for consideration.

  • Providing Intervention Services: Delivers targeted, evidence-based academic interventions to students identified through data analysis and problem-solving processes.
  • Supporting Student Achievement: Assists students in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve grade-level standards and improve academic performance.
  • Monitoring Progress: Collects, analyzes, and maintains student progress-monitoring data to evaluate intervention effectiveness and guide instructional decisions.
  • Maintaining Compliance: Ensures intervention services and Title I activities are implemented in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
