Evaluations are conducted as defined in West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5310
SUMMARY
Responsible for overall planning and managing of Communities In Schools (CIS) operations at the schools in the implementation of the CIS model of integrated student supports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implementation of the CIS model of integrated student supports:
Large emphasis on school attendance and reducing chronic absences within the school
Engage a school support team that works closely with school administrators, staff and teachers in the implementation of the CIS model
Lead the annual needs assessment process
Lead the development and implementation of the school support plan
Lead and coordinate the delivery of evidence-based services based on best practice and risk factor research
Monitoring and adjust services
Evaluate the effectiveness at achieving school and student individualized goals
Lead the School Support Team in annual reporting
The CIS Coordinator will service on the school base attendance team as well as attend the county attendance team meetings
Make home visits as needed
Work collaboratively with teachers, administration and other staff to identify students with chronic absences and provide support
Assist administrator with implementation of the school wide attendance incentive plan and provide support in all three of the multi tier system of support
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience in education, social work or related field
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be a Social Worker, Certified School Teacher, or Counselor
Aside from having experience in working with school-age children, effective written and verbal communication skills and familiarity with local health and human service agencies a site coordinator must possess the knowledge, skills and personal attributes needed by entry-level professional to support the critical features of positive youth development settings.
