Teacher of Multi-Subjects

A classroom teacher responsible for providing high-quality instruction that promotes student achievement and growth. The teacher develops and delivers standards-based instruction aligned with the West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards, creates and maintains a safe and engaging learning environment, and supports students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. The teacher may be assigned to teach courses consistent with the employee's certification and the instructional needs of Pocahontas County Schools.

The teacher performs duties consistent with the expectations of a professional educator as defined by West Virginia Code, West Virginia Board of Education policy, and Pocahontas County Board of Education policy.

Minimum Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in education or an appropriate content area. Valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) for the assigned position. Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-10.

Demonstrates current and thorough knowledge of assigned content, curriculum, instructional best practices, and applicable state standards. Understands how students learn and develops instruction appropriate to various developmental levels. Designing Instruction:
Develops and implements engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, student engagement, and the application of learning. Selects appropriate instructional resources, technology, and learning experiences to support student achievement. Assessing Student Learning:
Designs and implements formative and summative assessments aligned with learning objectives. Uses assessment data to monitor progress, provide feedback, and inform instructional decisions. Understanding Students:
Demonstrates knowledge of students' individual strengths, interests, learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and academic needs to provide differentiated instruction and appropriate accommodations or modifications.

Implements and enforces appropriate safety procedures consistent with district, state, and federal guidelines.

Utilizes a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies, learning experiences, and appropriate technologies to engage students in meaningful learning. Communicating Clearly:
Provides accurate, coherent, and effective instruction with clear expectations and directions. Uses questioning, discussion, and active listening techniques to support student understanding. Providing Timely Feedback:
Offers specific, constructive, and timely feedback to students regarding academic performance and progress toward learning goals. Demonstrating Flexibility:
Adjusts instructional methods, pacing, and resources to meet student needs and respond to assessment results and classroom dynamics.

Continuously evaluates instructional effectiveness and student outcomes to improve teaching practices and student achievement. Collaborating with Colleagues:
Works cooperatively with administrators, teachers, counselors, interventionists, special education personnel, and other staff to support student success and school improvement initiatives. Communicating with Families:
Maintains regular, professional communication with parents and guardians regarding academic progress, student needs, and classroom activities. Participating in the School Community:
