Job Title

To assist with participating student to achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and an increased level of self-esteem.

Responsibilities include cooperating with building principal, athletic director, and coaching staff within the school; organizing coaching staff; developing positive relationships with participants, student body, faculty, parents and community, game officials, news media, and opponents; employing appropriate conduct during games and practices; attending league, conference, and WVSSAC events; participating in professional growth activities; motivating staff and players toward desired goals; developing high caliber and quality instruction;

teaching fundamental skills; handling athletic injuries; caring for equipment; supervising participants and disciplining team appropriately; designing quality organization of practice sessions; supervising managers and other support personnel; managing budget; following purchasing procedures; initiating game organizational skills; following board of education, league, conference, and WVSSAC policies; devoting time and energy to coaching duties; and following end of season procedures.

Hold or qualify for West Virginia Certificate as required under State Board Policy 5202; possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully carry out responsibilities of the position; CPR/AED certified.
