POSITION TITLE: MC After 3 School Teacher 21st Century Grant
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachlor's or Master's in "student-related field" Example Elementary or Secondar Education, Physical Education and Recreation, Child/Youth Development, Child Guidance/Counseling, Child Psychology, Family Studies, Social Work, Human Services or related field
REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- I. Provides curricula required by the state of West Virginia and the Morgan County Board of Education.
- A. Bases instruction on adopted curricula for the school.
- B. Demonstrates accurate and current knowledge in subject field.
- C. Develops appropriate lessons to teach instructional objectives.
- D. Employs a variety of instructional strategies to augment achievement.
- E. Utilizes content scope and sequence in planning.
- II. Implements an instructional management system to maximize student learning that is consistent with state/county/school goals.
- Provides Engaging Activities to Motivate Student Learning
- A. Prepares and implements lesson plans.
- B. Has materials, supplies and equipment ready at the start of the lesson or instructional activity.
- C. Introduces the instructional activity and specifies instructional objectives.
- D. Directs and adequately supervises students to be on task quickly at the beginning of each instructional activity.
- E. Presents reading and writing strategies using concepts and language which students understand.
- F. Provides relevant examples and demonstrations to illustrate concepts and skills.
- G. Completes data reviews on each student.
- H. Utilizes formative assessment to determine lesson achievement.
- I. Maximizes student time on task.
- J. Encourages students to express ideas clearly and accurately.
- K. Incorporates higher level thinking skills.
- L. Assists students to develop productive work habits and study skills.
- M. Provides remediation activities for students.
- N. Integrates a variety of technology applications and learning tools to augment student achievement.
- III. Monitors Student Achievement
- A. Maintains accurate and complete student records.
- B. Monitors and evaluates student progress.
- C. Provides feedback on student work.
- D. Monitors student attendance.
- IV. Communicates with students, parents, educational personnel, and others.
- A. Communicates student progress according to established procedures and policies.
- B. Communicates regularly and effectively with students, co-workers, parents/guardians, and community and exhibits appropriate interactive skills.
- C. Follows confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members.
- D. Speaks and writes standard English clearly, correctly, and distinctly.
- E. Determines and utilizes appropriate community resources.
- V. Demonstrates behavior which reflects established professional responsibilities (i.e. attendance, punctuality, and verbal/nonverbal communication).
- VII. Demonstrates competency in the knowledge and implementation of technology standards.
- VII. Attends monthly staff meetings as scheduled.
