Job Title: After-School Tutor (Certified Teacher)
Reports To: Principal
Job Summary: The After-School Tutor will provide targeted academic support to small groups of students after regular school hours. The position is designed to strengthen student achievement by offering additional instruction, remediation, and enrichment in core subject areas. The tutor will remain after school for up to two hours per day, working with students identified by classroom teachers and/or assessment data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide tutoring in reading, mathematics, writing, or other assigned subject areas
- Diagnose student learning needs and plan lessons that address identified gaps.
- Implement engaging instructional strategies that align with grade-level standards and school curriculum.
- Maintain accurate attendance records for participating students.
- Ensure a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in training or meetings as required by administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
Qualifications:
- Valid West Virginia teaching certificate (or eligibility for licensure).
- Strong knowledge of grade-level standards, instructional strategies, and intervention practices.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and motivate them to learn.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
Work Schedule:
- Up to 2 hours after school, 2 days per week
- Employment is contingent upon program funding and student participation.
Compensation:
- Hourly rate/stipend as determined by the Boone County Board of Education.
