This is a Long-Term Substitute position for the 26-27 SY.

Work days: M - F, 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM

Pursuant to West Virginia Code, if a current JCS employee is selected as a finalist for this position, the employee is not eligible to transfer until the 2027–2028 school year.

Term: 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8

Salary:Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8a, in accordance with Jefferson County School’s Salary Scale,
Pay Grade F/G commensurate with experience and education level

Evaluation:Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314, and Jefferson County School’s Evaluation Policy for Service Personnel

Job Summary:The ECCAT assists the teacher(s) in a variety of ways to implement instructional programs including working directly with children in small groups or on a one-to-one basis; to establish effective rapport with students assigned to either a Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, or Third Grade classroom; to motivate students to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation, in accordance with each pupil's ability.

The successful applicant will support the teacher in the classroom, especially with assisting students in academic areas related to numeracy and literacy. Should the successful applicant be an Aide without an ECCAT certification, they must be willing to enroll and take courses (online or in a classroom) to obtain the early childhood assistant teacher authorization upon employment in this position. In addition, the WVDE training on the science of reading and numeracy (dyslexia/dysgraphia) is required.

ECCAT I considered a temporary certification for someone working on completing the ECCAT required courses. An ECCAT II is regarded as a permanent certification, someone who has completed the required ECCAT courses. An ECCAT III is the certification for someone who has completed the ECCAT required course and holds a Paraprofessional certification.
