Job Description
Since the Army National Guard uses a plethora of electronic systems, power is essential to success. As the Power-Generation Equipment Repairer, you’ll supply the power to run virtually every aspect of Army activity whenever and wherever it’s needed. In this specialty, you’ll support military operations day or night by performing preventive maintenance checks on generation equipment, replacing voltage regulators, governors, or circuit cards, and adjusting frequencies and voltages using technical publications to enhance equipment efficiency.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance on tactical utility and precise power‑generation sets, internal combustion engines, and related equipment.
- Replace voltage regulators, governors, and circuit cards.
- Adjust frequencies and voltages to improve equipment efficiency.
- Conduct other maintenance tasks as assigned in support of military operations.
- Generator and power plant operations.
- Electrical generation and distribution.
- Diesel generator operation, disassembly, inspection, and maintenance.
- Principles of electrical and electronic circuitry.
- Experience using hand and power tools. (Helpful)
- Interest in electricity and working with large machinery. (Helpful)
Training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training plus approximately 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training that includes classroom and field practice in maintaining electrical power systems.

- Minimum education:
