About the RoleThe Chemours Belle Facility in Belle, WV is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to join the team. This is a highly visible and impactful role that provides critical technical leadership and support across the site. The position reports to the Manufacturing Technology Manager and plays a key role in leading the Belle Manufacturing Technology team.
Overview:The Senior Chemical Engineer provides chemical engineering leadership and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and Technology teams. This role is actively involved in day‑to‑day plant troubleshooting and supports continuous improvement initiatives related to process optimization, reliability, uptime, cost reduction, safety, and capital project execution.
The Belle facility includes operations classified as high‑hazard processes
, requiring strong expertise in process safety and risk management.
- Provide chemical engineering expertise and mentoring to Technical Engineers, Operations, and Maintenance personnel.
- Recommend and implement solutions that enhance safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Support day‑to‑day process troubleshooting activities.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations.
- Lead and support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including:
Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity (MI), Process Technology (PT). - Drive development and execution of the area capital plan.
- Participate on the Highly Toxic Material Committee.
- Provide environmental compliance and support as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing or process operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in PSM, LOPA, Facility Siting, and RMP.
- Strong knowledge of pressure relief device sizing.
- Working knowledge of chemical plant equipment, including pumps, compressors, piping systems, distillation columns, reactors, and refrigeration systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
- Ability and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel‑toe footwear, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, and respirators.
