Lead mechanical maintenance delivery and support plant reliability

Wolviston Management Services is proud to be working in partnership with Tioxide to recruit a Mechanical Lead for their Greatham site.

This is a hands‑on mechanical leadership role where you will support the M/E/I Front Line Manager with the safe, efficient and effective delivery of the weekly maintenance plan, while responding to priority work as determined by the Area Engineering Manager.

You will act as a first technical point of contact for plant issues, support fault investigation, produce work packs, coordinate spares, oversee critical mechanical work and help improve plant reliability across the ICON area.

What you’ll be doing
  • Act as the first technical point of contact for plant mechanical issues, investigating faults and assessing whether work should be completed immediately or scheduled into planned maintenance.
  • Produce fit‑for‑purpose work packs for emergent and routine work, including spare overhauls.
  • Review equipment failures and support Root Cause Analysis activity with the Technical Engineer.
  • Identify improvements and upgrades to improve MTBF and MTTR of plant equipment.
  • Produce and maintain monthly plant equipment status reports.
  • Supervise work and act as Permit Acceptor when required to meet plant priorities.
  • Oversee critical mechanical work, using feedback from mechanical technicians to improve job pack quality.
  • Coach and train mechanical technicians and contract personnel to improve work quality and support a right‑first‑time approach.
  • Witness critical joints, refit relief valves, carry out pressure tests and support leak assessments in line with local procedures.
  • Liaise with external contractors when ordering materials and parts.
  • Coordinate spares, ensuring parts are correct and delivered to site on time.
  • Act as section owner during plant shutdowns and lead multidisciplinary teams when required.
  • Deliver the weekly maintenance plan in line with area requirements, ensuring priorities are clear, agreed and achieved.
  • Control and direct third parties within the ICON area, ensuring compliance with legislative, group and site safety, engineering and quality standards.
  • Provide up‑to‑date progress reports to the M/E/I Front Line Manager.
  • Deputise for the M/E/I Front Line Manager when required.
Candidate requirements
  • A strong mechanical equipment background, including valves, rotating equipment and conveying systems.
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance, manufacturing, chemical, process, utilities or another industrial environment.
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and communicate technical information clearly to the shopfloor.
  • Experience producing work packs, coordinating spares or supporting planned maintenance activity.
  • Experience supervising mechanical work, contractors or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, permits, risk assessments and site maintenance standards.
  • Experience supporting fault finding, equipment failure reviews or root cause analysis.
  • A practical approach to improving reliability, work quality, MTBF and MTTR.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technicians, contractors and site teams.
  • A commitment to safe working, inclusion, continuous improvement and values‑led behaviours.

We know people gain skills in different ways. You do not need to meet every point above to apply. If this role interests you and you believe you could make a positive contribution, we would welcome your application.

Why join Tioxide?

Join Tioxide in a practical mechanical leadership role where your technical knowledge, planning skills and ability to support people will directly influence maintenance delivery, plant reliability and safe operations. You will work with experienced teams and contractors in a role where your decisions and attention to detail will make a visible impact.

Diversity and inclusion

Tioxide is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and able to contribute. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences, including people from groups currently under‑represented in engineering, maintenance, manufacturing and technical roles.

Tioxide and Wolviston Management Services are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process.
