Sr. Process Design Engineer
Summary:
As a Senior Process Design Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in shaping how our plant operates today and evolves for the future. You’ll lead the design and implementation of engineering solutions that support both day‑to‑day operations and high‑impact strategic projects. In this role, you’ll design and optimize equipment, systems, and processes that improve reliability, enhance safety, and drive efficiency across the site.
From early concept development through installation and commissioning, you’ll own the process design journey—bringing ideas to life while ensuring alignment with engineering standards and regulatory requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams, using your expertise to solve complex challenges and deliver practical, innovative solutions that make a real impact on the plant and the people who run it.
Please note that this role requires onsite presence five days per week, Monday through Friday. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of employees, contractors, company assets, and the surrounding community.
- Ensure all work complies with Momentive’s EHS Management Systems, cybersecurity requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accountability for safety across engineering projects and maintenance activities, including work performed by contractors and vendors.
- Lead the development of detailed engineering designs for new installations, system upgrades, and plant modifications.
- Prepare engineering deliverables such as specifications, drawings, and technical documentation for process equipment and fluid handling systems, including heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, safety valves, columns, and reactors.
- Provide process design support for capital projects, including scope definition and cost estimation.
- Serve as a site subject matter expert in piping and insulation specifications, material selection, and chemical compatibility.
- Conduct technical and economic evaluations to support new products and process improvements, assessing plant capacity, operating conditions, investment needs, and potential operational impacts.
- Strengthen site engineering capability through mentoring, coaching, and technical development of process and production engineers.
- BS degree or higher in Chemical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in design engineering within an industrial chemical manufacturing environment.
- Skilled in process simulation and analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of codes and standards (ASME, API, ASTM).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong safety consciousness and familiarity with EHS requirements.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook / Office / Excel / PowerPoint.
- Ability to multi‑task and manage multiple projects.
- Preferred:
Technical knowledge in industrial equipment and chemical products. - Preferred:
Familiarity with SAP, OSI PI data management platform, chemical process simulation (preferably CHEMCAD). - Preferred:
Process Safety Management knowledge (MOC, PSSR, PHA, LOPA).
Base Pay Range: $93,000 – $136,950 (actual salary determined by factors such as education, experience, and geography). Eligible for incentive or variable compensation payments based on company performance and individual job performance.
