Job Summary
The Rolling Process Engineer will optimize performance, maximize material recovery, eliminate process waste, and improve productivity and conversion costs. This is done through engineering and metallurgical solutions, focused improvement projects, and process control. This role works closely in a team environment with other engineers and managers. This position also supports the quality systems requirement for the coil path and customer quality satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Maintain and improve processes to improve product capability and performance, process efficiency and material recovery.
- Manage hydraulic, lubricant and filter consumable inventory and purchase orders.
- Keep coolant process in control and capable for consistent mill performance.
- Audit and communicate leak performance.
- Provide technical expertise and support to daily activities.
- Lead and support Coil Quality projects and activities.
- Lead or participate in the investigation, data analysis and implementation of solutions to complex problems involving multiple production centers and technical aspects.
- Create opportunities for process improvement and act on those ideas through equipment modification, process improvement, material changes, etc.
- Support the quality systems requirement for the CPG department (internal audits, equipment calibration, MOC, CAR, PFMEA, external audits, etc.).
- Collaborate with Quality Team on claims/issues that need immediate resolution.
- 5 years experience in Aluminum rolling, preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or proven relevant experience, strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, required
- Ability to pass pre-employment testing under specific area of discipline, required
- Ability to adapt to a new environment, required
- Effective communication (both written and verbal) with the ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences
- Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
