LocationMartinsburg, WV – frequent travel to customer sites.
ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Site Lead
- Prepare piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&’s).
- Prepare general arrangements, layouts and elevation drawings for process, utility and manufacturing systems.
- Prepare detail drawings for equipment installations, process ducting, HVAC ducting, piping and plumbing systems.
- Prepare piping layouts, piping support details, and isometrics.
- Check other designer’s work to ensure a high level of quality.
- Assist in the development of capital cost estimates and effort hour estimates.
- Prepare design bases, work tenders, best value options analyses, and provide input to project schedules.
- Work closely and coordinate with engineers and other designers.
- Participate in design reviews with the client.
- Participate and facilitate “learn from experience” meetings.
- Participate in system commissioning, verification, and qualification activities.
- Review manufacturer information to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Provide design support during construction to ensure technical compliance which includes reviewing equipment submittals, shop drawings and responding to contractor RFI’s (request for information).
- Provide client-focused communication both written and verbal to ensure strong working relationships are fostered.
- Provide cohesive and cooperative daily interactions with the team.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
- Ability to travel and work in Canada.
- Experience in manufacturing, process and utility environments.
- Ability to multi-task while delivering multiple projects.
- Commissioning and process start-up experience.
- Proficient in Autocad.
- Working knowledge of Solid Edge or Solid Works is an asset.
- Team orientated mindset.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication both written and oral.
- Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Specific system design skills in areas of utilities, flammable/combustible liquids, combustible dusts, bulk material handling, fluid handling, micro susceptible processes, and HVAC systems.
- Troubleshooting capability for equipment and system start-up.
