Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. The mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other U.S. facility, enough to power one million electric vehicles per year. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel manages and integrates the efforts of a team of contractors engineering and building the facility, and procures $1 billion in goods and services.

Earth work began in 2023; design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway. The project is located in the high desert of north-central Nevada, about 25 miles from the Oregon border, one hour northwest of Winnemucca and three hours northeast of Reno. The facility will use excess process heat to generate electricity and recycle process water up to seven times.

When the second phase is complete, Thacker Pass will produce 16 times the current U.S. lithium output.

Provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Ensure field engineering activities operate safely and comply with quality standards and project requirements.

Work Planning & Packaging

• Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
• Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules, designs temporary construction facilities, and prepares "as built" drawings and other job plans.

Material Management

• Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
• Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.

Quantities

• Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.

Safety / Quality Control

• Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others in the operational area; ensures tools and equipment are safe and operated safely.

Technical

• Proactively pursues continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.

System Turnover Coordinator (For Direct Hire)

• Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.

STR / Subcontract Coordinator

• Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
• Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.

• Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.

• Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft preferred.
• Contract management experience.
• Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures.
• Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including ACONEX, TEAMWorks, Bechtel Productivity System, PTR, eSub and other automation tools.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of multiple technical engineering disciplines related to construction of industrial projects.
• Knowledge of current industry design standards.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Prior U.S. Mega-Project direct hire construction experience.
