Description
The Design Engineer – Fuel Containment & Delivery designs, develops, qualifies, and sustains advanced fuel containment systems for aerospace and military applications. This role focuses on self-sealing and non-self-sealing fuel bladder assemblies, mid-air refueling equipment, and supporting manufacturing processes.
The engineer collaborates with internal teams and external customers throughout product development, qualification, and production support. The position requires hands‑on engineering experience with mission‑critical, crashworthy fuel systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Design, develop, and release fuel bladder assemblies for aerospace applications
- Create manufacturing instructions, tooling concepts, and process documentation
- Plan and execute qualification testing, analyze results, and prepare technical reports
- Perform component weight analysis and proof‑of‑concept evaluations
- Support production, sustainment activities, customer demonstrations, and military installations
- Manage project schedules while interpreting drawings and technical specifications
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers, and internal engineering teams
- Support engineering change notices (ECNs) and continuous process improvements
- Contribute to advanced polymer material development initiatives
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
- Minimum of three years of relevant engineering experience
- Experience with fuel systems, polymer components, or aerospace structures
- Proficiency in Solid Works or similar CAD software
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and technical documentation
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Ability to perform in a fast‑paced, program‑driven environment
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
- U.S. citizenship required for ITAR‑regulated programs
