Geotechnical Engineering – Mid-Level
Responsibilities- Perform field work related to geotechnical explorations and construction projects
- Produce daily and weekly field reports to support project activities
- Communicate effectively with the Senior Engineer, Project Manager, and project team members
- Interface with clients and subcontractors, responding to their requests
- Assist in preparation and review of boring logs, lab assignments, calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
- Oversee subcontractors, such as drillers and contractors
- Help prepare Health and Safety Plans and Quality Plans
- Basic understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and analysis methods
- Ability to interpret sketches, engineering drawings, and related documents
- Field experience with geotechnical drill rigs and construction monitoring/oversight/testing
- Experience on earthwork and concrete construction projects
- Willingness to work 50–75% of working hours in the field and to travel out of town or overtime
- Familiarity with geotechnical laboratory test methods
- Knowledge of geologic formations in the Tennessee Physiographic Regions
- Basic experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu, Geo Studio, and gINT, or willingness to be trained
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and judgment capabilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic experience in geophysics techniques, or willingness to be trained
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Engineering Geology
- FE/EIT certification required
- Minimum of 3–5 years project experience

Vision:
Near and far vision requirements specified. Sensory requirements: minimal to accurate. Environmental exposure: chemical exposure, extreme temperatures, radiation, uneven surfaces, dust or particulate matter.
