We're looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys taking ownership of capital projects from concept through startup. If you enjoy solving complex engineering problems, working directly with operations, and seeing your projects come to life on the plant floor, we'd like to hear from you.
This is a highly visible role where you'll partner with operations, maintenance, contractors, and engineering teams to execute projects that improve safety, reliability, and production performance.
What You'll Do- Lead mechanical capital projects from planning through commissioning and handoff to operations.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and contractor performance.
- Develop equipment specifications and oversee installation of new manufacturing equipment.
- Coordinate equipment modifications, facility improvements, and process upgrades.
- Support equipment selection, layout, piping, HVAC, utilities, structural interfaces, and material handling systems.
- Review engineering drawings, vendor submittals, and technical documentation.
- Work closely with maintenance and operations to minimize downtime during installations.
- Drive project execution while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement long-term reliability improvements.
- Coordinate vendors, suppliers, and engineering firms throughout project execution.
- Support equipment startup, commissioning, testing, and performance validation.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy industrial environment.
- Proven experience managing capital projects from design through startup.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems including pumps, piping, rotating equipment, conveyors, HVAC, utilities, and process equipment.
- Experience working with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional operations teams.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, mechanical layouts, and construction documents.
- Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working both in an office and on the manufacturing floor.
