Justrite Safety Group is seeking a Process Engineer for our Wellsburg, WV manufacturing facility. The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes across plastic injection molding and metal stamping operations. This role owns process capability, tooling performance, and production efficiency, working cross-functionally with Quality, Tooling, Maintenance, and Production to ensure parts are manufactured safely, on-spec, and at optimal cost.

Process Development & Optimization
- Design, develop, and validate manufacturing processes for injection molded plastic parts and stamped metal components (progressive dies, transfer dies, secondary operations)
- Optimize molding parameters (fill, pack, hold, cooling) and stamping parameters (tonnage, feed, die protection) to maximize quality, cycle time, and OEE
- Lead DOE (Design of Experiments) studies to establish and document robust process windows
- Develop and maintain process control plans, work instructions, and setup sheets
New Product / Program Launch
- Support new product introduction (NPI) from DFM review through PPAP/production trial
- Partner with tooling engineers and toolmakers on mold/die design reviews, sampling, and tryout
- Conduct capability studies (Cpk/Ppk) and first-article inspections to validate new processes and tooling
Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to reduce scrap, downtime, and cycle time
- Lead root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) for process-related quality escapes and production issues
- Identify and justify capital improvement projects (automation, tooling upgrades, equipment)
Tooling & Equipment
- Troubleshoot mold, die, and press-related issues in coordination with tooling/maintenance teams
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules for tooling and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime
- Evaluate and specify new equipment, tooling, and automation (robotics, EOAT, sensors)
Quality & Compliance
- Support PPAP, control plans, FMEA, and APQP documentation
- Ensure processes comply with IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements
- Investigate customer complaints and internal nonconformances tied to process performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Train production operators and technicians on process parameters and standard work
- Work with Supply Chain on material specifications, resin/metal substitutions, and cost reduction
- Communicate process status, risks, and improvement plans to plant leadership
Your Skills and Expertise
To ensure your success from day one in this role, Justrite requires the following qualifications at a minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Plastics, or related discipline)
- Minimum 3 years of process engineering experience in plastics injection molding and/or metal stamping manufacturing environment
- Hands-on knowledge of injection molding machine setup/troubleshooting (Cpk, scientific molding) and/or progressive/transfer die stamping presses
- Experience with capability studies, SPC, FMEA, control plans, and PPAP documentation
- Proficiency with CAD software (Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar) for tooling/process review
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills (8D, DMAIC, 5-Why)
- Working knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
