Intern / Metallurgical Engineering
Constellium is seeking interns to aid with Metallurgical Engineering projects at our Ravenswood, WV location for the Summer 2027 term.
Applicants must be pursuing a degree in Materials Science or Metallurgy.
The Material Science Engineering Intern would work for one of the metallurgists in the Process Development Metallurgy section of the Quality Department s role provides exposure to work with a wide variety of roles within and outside of the facility. Their main project would involve a cross-functional team that would likely include several of the following groups:
- The rest of the quality group
- One or more of our 4 manufacturing units (casting, hot rolling, coil processing, or plate)
- Process Engineers
- Managers
- Supervisors
- Operators & technicians
- Our research center and/or outside laboratories
- Sales or Customer Application Engineers
- Central Engineering
- IT or Automated Systems Specialists
- Supply Chain
This provides insight into several different career paths metallurgists can take at an aluminum manufacturing facility.
The main project would also focus on either the development of a new product or on improving the capability of an existing product. It is likely to include:
- Experience with industry testing methods (tensile, fatigue, corrosion …)
- Structured problem solving
- Research
- Trial/experiment design & implementation
- Analytical analysis
- Translating customer requirements into critical process variables
- Presenting and communicating results
- Establishing process controls
