Overview
The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for AEA Assistant Stage Managers. CATF is a LORT D (LOA) summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theater. The festival premieres or produces multiple plays per season in multiple venues. CATF is committed to supporting the unique needs of new work while fostering an environment of fun and company community.
Located 90 minutes from DC, CATF makes its home in one of America s coolest small towns, Shepherdstown, WV.
This summer CATF is producing four productions in four venues. Each production will have its own Stage Management team, the size of which varies by the venue and complexity of the production; typical teams are 2-3 people (SM and an ASM and/or PA). A Production Stage Manager (already hired) oversees the Stage Management Department, along with their own show assignment.
Responsibilities- Assist the Stage Management team on assigned productions as part of the crew for rehearsals, tech and performances.
- Contribute to the collaboration process with ensemble members to find practical and artistically-sound solutions in a time-sensitive environment.
- Support the general duties of stage management, including call preparation, show tracking, and prompt book consistency, as assigned by the Production Stage Manager.
- Adapt to script and design changes during the build and tech process in support of new works.
- Ideal candidates will have experience working on new plays (particularly world premieres).
- Some experience working in a repertory or festival environment is preferred, though this is not a rep position.

Most rehearsals will take place in Shepherdstown, WV, although some shows may partially rehearse in New York. These details will be discussed as part of the interview process.
