Northern Shore Capital is seeking an experienced CFO / Senior Finance Leader to support the buildout and growth of a behavioral health / psychiatry platform within our private equity portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on, strategic finance executive to build and scale the financial infrastructure of a growing healthcare services organization. The role will partner closely with Northern Shore Capital, the platform CEO, and operating leadership to strengthen financial reporting, establish scalable processes, support acquisition activity, and provide the financial discipline necessary to grow a multi-site behavioral health business.

The ideal candidate will combine the strategic perspective of a CFO with a highly operational mindset. This individual should be comfortable moving between board-level financial discussions and the details of revenue cycle, payer economics, forecasting, cash flow, month-end close, systems, controls, and finance team development.

Key Areas of Impact

Build & Scale the Finance Organization

  • Establish and scale the finance and accounting infrastructure needed to support a growing behavioral health platform.
  • Develop disciplined monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.
  • Improve close timelines, financial controls, and visibility into business performance.
  • Build a finance organization capable of supporting both organic growth and acquisition-driven expansion.

Strengthen Financial & Revenue Performance

  • Partner with operations and revenue cycle teams to improve visibility into collections, reimbursement, payer mix, denials, and revenue performance.
  • Develop reporting around provider productivity, patient volume, utilization, contribution margin, and site-level profitability.
  • Evaluate reimbursement trends and identify opportunities to improve revenue capture and overall financial performance.
  • Strengthen working capital management and cash forecasting.

Drive Strategic Planning & Decision Support

  • Develop KPI dashboards and financial reporting that provide leadership with clear insight into performance by location, provider, service line, and market.
  • Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, scenario planning, and long-term financial modeling.
  • Translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations for operating leadership.
  • Partner with management to identify opportunities to improve margins, productivity, and operating leverage.

Support M&A & Integration

  • Support financial diligence for acquisitions and new market opportunities.
  • Evaluate quality of earnings, working capital, finance infrastructure, revenue cycle performance, and financial risks.
  • Lead or support post-close finance integration.
  • Standardize reporting, accounting policies, financial systems, and controls across acquired practices and locations.

Build Scalable Systems & Controls

  • Evaluate and enhance accounting, ERP, FP&A, revenue cycle, payroll, and reporting systems.
  • Develop scalable processes and financial infrastructure to support continued expansion.
  • Strengthen audit readiness, lender reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Create repeatable finance playbooks and best practices that can be applied as the platform grows.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Progressive finance leadership experience, ideally including experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, or senior finance executive.
  • Experience with in behavioral health, psychiatry, physician services, healthcare services, or another reimbursement-driven healthcare environment strongly preferred.
  • Private equity-backed, founder-led, or high-growth healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle management, reimbursement, payer dynamics, and accrual-based revenue recognition.
  • Demonstrated ability to build or improve finance functions, teams, processes, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Strong command of financial statements, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, working capital, and management reporting.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or multi-site growth is highly valuable.
  • Ability to develop meaningful financial and operational KPIs across locations and providers.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to partner effectively with CEOs, clinicians, investors, lenders, and boards.
  • Hands-on operating mindset with the ability to move comfortably between strategic priorities and detailed execution.
