Job Description
If you’re interested in a career in environmental health, join the Army National Guard as a Water Treatment Specialist. This role is paramount to the health and safety of your fellow Soldiers, and you will be responsible for ensuring that they live and work in sanitary conditions.
Responsibilities- Conduct site reconnaissance and prepare for water treatment activities
- Set up equipment and facilities for water treatment
- Operate and maintain water treatment equipment
- Manage portable water supplies
- Monitor the storage, transport, and disposal of waste
- Perform water quality analysis and testing
- Inspect facilities and food supplies for the presence of disease, germs, and other environmental hazards
- Interest in algebra, biology, chemistry, and general science
- High attention to detail
- Interest in protecting the environment
Get paid to train. In the Army National Guard, you will earn a regular paycheck, qualify for tuition assistance, and after 10 weeks of Basic Training and 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, you will receive hands‑on and classroom instruction in identifying health hazards and inspecting food products, food service operations, wastewater, and waste disposal facilities. You may also qualify for a certified apprenticeship in this occupation.
