Serves as a Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger) for a multi-purpose navigation or flood control project. Performs duties that require a professional general knowledge of natural resources management and works under strict guidelines and close supervision.

• DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT/DUTIES:
  • Assist in boundary line inspection
  • Conducts public relations to the general public, local, state and Federal agencies and special groups
  • Collects recreation fees, maintains records, and accounts for fund in accordance with established regulations and policy.
  • Performs conventional natural resource management tasks that have well-established boundaries or expectations involving aspect of project operations

  This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

  QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum Education Requirement:
• A. Degree:
  Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR
  
  B. Combination of
  
  Education and Experience:
  
  Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
• Minimum Experience Requirement:
  Applicants who meet the basic requirements described in the individual occupational requirements are fully qualified for the specified entry grade (generally grade GS-5).

• CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • One-year probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Position is designated as Non-Sensitive-No access security clearance.
• This position has been identified by DA as a testing designated position (TDP) IAW AR 600-85 and/or 600-1-3, as such, incumbent is subject to all provisions of the Drug Testing Program requirements. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R "Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program".
• Pre-appointment physical exam is required.
• Must wear uniforms in accordance with EP 1130-2-550 (Engineering Pamphlets) Chapter 8 during routine work situations.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain a current Corps of Engineers motorboat operator's license including all requirements of the District Licensing Policy within 12 months.
• Must possess or acquire Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations Citation Authority within 24 months and maintain throughout employment.
• Incumbent may be required to work weekends, holidays and varying shifts.
• Obtain and maintain valid state motor vehicle operator’s license prior to appointment.
• Incumbent may be required to perform prescribed fire duties.
• Incumbent may be required to perform invasive species control.
• Heavy Lifting Requirements (over 45 pounds).
