Phlebotomist PRN

Overview

Rivers Health is seeking a per-diem Phlebotomist in the hospital Laboratory.

• Collects specimens from patients in a manner that supports the guest relations policy of the hospital, using 2 identifiers.
• Identify, accession, and distribute samples within the department policy and procedure.
• Prepare samples properly for testing by reference laboratory in appropriate fashion (ie: DHL, Airborne, Fed Ex, US Mail, etc.).
• Ensures that adequate supplies are available to complete anticipated volume of testing.
• Follows safety and infection control policies of the laboratory and all other hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Participates in all mandated inservice programs on an annual basis.
• Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
• Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
• Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.
• Other duties that may be assigned.
• Stocks and cleans work areas as required.
• Performs general clerical duties, including filing, answering phones, greeting all customers, distributing patient reports.
• Provide courier services as directed by supervisor to outside accounts, utilizing private or corporate owned vehicles.
• On call as directed; respond to all calls within a 15-minute time frame; must have cell phone close by and charged accordingly.
