Job Overview
Evaluates and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs and provides educational information to patients regarding injury prevention, ergonomics, restorative therapy, and rehabilitation therapy. The Physical Therapist is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team and is expected to accurately assess the patients' needs; identify and implement appropriate physical therapy treatment; coordinate and/or provide patient and family teaching; and work in collaborative association with the interdisciplinary team to provide timely, safe, and cost‑effective treatment to achieve optimal functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Supplies care for a patient population primarily consisting of adolescent, adult, and geriatric individuals who are acutely ill with medically complex needs.
- Supervises physical therapy assistants and aides in performing treatment.
- Coordinates the physical therapy care for patients, including ambulation, mobility, and activities of daily living deficits.
- Participates in performance improvement plans and assists in program development activities for the department.
- Contributes to the cost effectiveness of services and programs in the Therapy Department.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduated from an accredited School of Physical Therapy with current licensure in West Virginia.
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Critical‑thinking skills and decisive judgment with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Competent in clinical decision‑making and the practice of physical therapy across the young adult to geriatric patient population.
- Proficient in the use of physical agents and modalities to deliver care.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with administrative staff, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds; ambulatory and mobile with minimal physical limitation.
- Good general health, stress coping ability, and near‑vision acuity for accurate reading and analysis.
