Responsibilities Company Overview

Our clientis a non-profit multi-service agency dedicated to improving mental health and social well-being across Northern Ontario. Through a person-centered and recovery-focused approach,theyprovidesaccessible counselling, case management, family support, mental health services, addictions support, and community-based programs throughout the District of Thunder Bay.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Clinical

Working with children and youth experiencing mental health challenges, as well as families, guardians, and community partners, responsibilities include:

  • Provide comprehensive, person-centred assessment, counselling, discharge planning,psycho-education, information, and referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with agency staff, physicians, community agencies, care providers, and families/guardians to coordinate care, reduce service duplication, remove barriers, and support continuity of care.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary planning meetings to ensure clear communication and coordinated service delivery.
  • Co-facilitate psycho-educational/support groups, workshops, and discussion sessions for children, youth, families, and guardians.
  • Assess risk, intervene when needed, and develop individualized safety plans when imminent risk is identified.
  • Ensure the protection and rights of children and families/guardians are addressed in accordance with applicable legislation, Standards of Practice, and NOSP policies and procedures.
  • Support mental health assessments and follow through on psychiatrist recommendations.
  • Maintain a caseload consistent with role expectations and evaluate client progress using standardized assessment tools and evidence-based approaches.
  • Document all client engagement and progress in the electronic clinical record whilemaintainingconfidentiality and ethical practice standards.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, performance enhancement, ongoing learning, self-evaluation, and support/precepting of colleagues, students, and others as needed.
Administrative
  • Participate in team meetings, agency staff meetings, planning, problem-solving, and change initiatives.
  • Contribute to research, program evaluation, committees, working groups, agency planning days, and other agency-wide initiatives.
  • Work in alignment with agency policies and procedures, College Standards, governing legislation, and clinical documentation requirements.
