What You’ll Do

The Executive Director provides strategic, financial, and operational leadership for the multi-site primary care clinic network. This role standardizes operational workflows, drives market growth, ensures clinical quality, and optimizes patient access. The leader bridges executive strategy with daily clinic operations to cultivate high-performing clinic teams.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the operating leader for the cardiology service line.
  • Partner in a physician-administrator dyad with the Service Line Medical Director to set and execute service line strategy.
  • Develop and execute multi-year service line growth plans, including program development (e.g., structural heart, advanced heart failure, electrophysiology, complex peripheral and vascular surgery), market expansion, and outreach clinic strategy.
  • Own the service line's annual operating and capital budgets; monitor volumes, revenue, expense, and productivity, and lead corrective action plans to meet financial targets.
  • Oversee daily operations of cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and vascular labs, non-invasive cardiac and vascular imaging and diagnostics, cardiology and vascular surgery clinics, and cardiac rehabilitation programs.
  • Lead service line quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives in collaboration with clinical leaders, including registry participation, accreditation readiness, and core measure performance.
  • Drive physician engagement, recruitment planning, and alignment strategies across cardiology and cardiac/vascular surgery, in partnership with medical staff leadership.
  • Manage service line staffing strategy, workforce planning, and leadership development for direct and matrixed reports across multiple departments and sites.
  • Lead or support service line contracting strategy, including supply chain/value analysis for cardiovascular devices and implants, in partnership with supply chain and finance.
  • Represent the service line in payer strategy discussions, bundled payment and value-based care initiatives, and managed care contract negotiations as needed.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all cardiology sites, including CMS Conditions of Participation, and applicable state regulations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with referring physicians, community partners, and regional outreach sites to support network integration and patient access.
  • Lead change management and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Report service line performance, risks, and strategic initiatives to system executive leadership and the board as required.
  • Implement efficient scheduling models to maximize provider template utilization and decrease patient wait times.
  • Oversee the primary care budget, optimizing labor costs and clinical supply expenses.
  • Partner with billing teams to reduce denials and improve collections.
  • Direct the operational integration of new clinic acquisitions and new provider onboarding.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain clinic managers, clinical leads, and administrative support staff.
  • Monitor patient safety events and execute corrective action plans to mitigate clinical risks.
  • Establish accountability frameworks that elevate both employee engagement and patient experience scores.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare or related field OR a minimum of 5 years escalating healthcare experience with the ability to obtain a bachelor’s degree within 12-months of hire.
