Medical Assistant Job Summary

E.A. Hawse Health Center is seeking a reliable and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The Medical Assistant will assist providers with patient care, prepare patients for examinations, perform clinical procedures, and maintain accurate patient records. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent patient communication, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced medical environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs and reviewing medications.
  • Assist providers during patient visits and clinical procedures.
  • Administer injections and collect specimens as ordered by the provider.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the medical record.
  • Monitor patients for reactions to medications and report concerns to the provider.
  • Clean and sterilize medical equipment according to clinic protocols.
  • Maintain and stock exam rooms with necessary supplies and forms.
  • Check and maintain stock solutions and ensure equipment has necessary parts and supplies.
  • Assist with filing and general clerical duties as needed.
  • Become familiar with medical records processes and assist with coverage when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant certification program required.
  • Phlebotomy experience or certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or medical office setting preferred.
  • Must maintain any required licenses or certifications.

Work Environment

This position works in a clinical setting assisting providers and supporting patient care activities.
