Job Summary

Rivers Health is seeking a part‑time Certified Surgical Technician in our Surgical Services Department. Responsible for the direct patient care within the Operating Room under the supervision of the registered nurse and following departmental standards, policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform surgical hand scrub, set up back table and Mayo stand for handling instruments and assist surgeon during surgical cases.
  • Ensure the use of sterile asepsis during surgical procedures.
  • Follow departmental policies for decontamination of surgical suites at the beginning, between, and on completion of surgical cases during the shift.
  • Assist in decontamination, disinfecting and/or sterilization of all instrumentation and equipment.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available to complete anticipated caseload during the shift.
  • Transport patients, supplies and specimens as directed.
  • Work in harmonious manner with team members.
  • Deliver care according to hospital and departmental policies, procedures and philosophies.
  • Practice positive customer relations techniques.
  • Respect patients’ privacy, rights and values and provide care accordingly.
  • Attend educational offerings; maintain minimum of 16 contact hours annually.
  • Assist in re-stocking and ordering supplies for the operating room suites and warmers.
  • Follow safety and infection control policies and procedures within the department.
  • Attend unit meetings.
  • Assist in orienting new employees.
  • Participate in hospital‑wide, interdisciplinary CQI process as directed.
  • Take responsibility for specific projects ensuring compliance to standards of environment of care, management information, care of patients and infection control.
  • Complete all annual competencies for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate excellence in customer service skills.
  • Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Comply with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and Procedures and Employee Handbook.
  • Cross‑train to other areas as assigned.
