Direct Support Professional

This is a full time position located at MLIH's Myyrtle, WV facility.

This position is essential to providing in home and/or community based consumer training and/or support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assist the consumer, totally or partially, with toileting and dressing as needed.
• Participation in the development of the consumer’s Individual Program Plan (IPP).
• Maintain accurate written or electronic documentation of services delivered to the consumer and submit as directed in a timely manner, including a daily time line and service activity log.
• Implement behavioral intervention techniques to help reduce challenging behaviors.
• Must transport the consumer to community activities in personal vehicle.
• If the DSP provides Friends and Family transportation services for the consumer, then transportation vendor credentialing must be completed.
• Provide Human Resources with current driver’s license, automobile insurance policy and vehicle registration information.
• Able to provide respite at MLIH and/or in the community for the consumer.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor.
• Uphold the state and federal guidelines of the Waiver Program.
• Meet all defined performance measures as defined by MLIH.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license. This position requires the employee to be certified in CPR and First Aid on a two-year basis.
