As an expert clinical researcher the Trauma Research Coordinator promotes quality trauma care through the coordination and continual development of the research and education components in collaboration with the Trauma Research Director and the entire Trauma Coordination Team and other applicable stakeholders . Promotes advancement of research and innovation in trauma and acute care through advancement and organization of the research program at the Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center.

The Trauma Research Coordinator will coordinate and assist with all aspects trauma related research for both the adult and pediatric trauma services at the organizational, regional, state and/or national level(s). Collaborates with trauma program leadership to ensure compliance with the West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services Trauma Designation regulations, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) standards in relation to maintaining trauma verification in regards to research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:1 . Bachelor’s degree in Nursing , Science, Healthcare, Public Health, Epidemiology or related field.
2. Certified Professional (ACRP-CP) or Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) through the Association of Clinical Research P rofessionals (ACRP) or obtain within three years of hire .
3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

EXPERIENCE :1. One (1) year experience in related research field, public health, or epidemiology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Master’s degree in Nursing, Science, Healthcare, Public Health, Epidemiology or related field.
2. Certified Clinical R esearch Coordinator through the Association of Clinical Research Personnel (ACRP) .CORE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists researchers with gaining access to available software and systems to facilitate the research process.
2. Assists with the development and refinement of research questions and hypotheses.
3. Coordinates site monitoring visits with study sponsors in collaboration with regulatory personnel. Ensures that all documentation/information is adequately prepared and coordinates the clinical protocols and investigations within our organization as well as multi-center/multiple-institutional studies/protocols.
4. Coordinates the distribution of the Annual Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center Trauma Research Grant by announcing the opening of the application process, receiving the applications and completing initial review, submitting applications to the review committee, and coordinates awarding of the grant to the recipients.
5. Participates in the trauma center Performance Improvement Process, injury prevention and outreach events, and day to day clinical operations as necessary to identify opportunities for research.
6. Prepares, submits, and maintains research protocols to the IRB complying with federal, state, and institutional review board guidelines governing the use of human subjects.
7. Conducts literature searches, reviews pertinent journals, abstracts and other literature, abstracts data from the trauma registry related to research protocols and investigations to stay up to date on relevant research.
8. Collaborates with all relevant personnel to provide study-related education, scheduling of relevant procedures and coordination of other study related tasks this includes collaboration with other investigators, internal and external to enhance regional, state and national participation.
