The laboratory supervisor bridges the gap between testing and operational management. They oversea daily testing, personnel, and ensure all processes meet regulatory and safety requirements. They are expected to support and help develop department and staff goals that contribute to the organization’s goals. This includes the development of performance improvement initiatives for department efficiency, patient experience, financial performance, and staff engagement.

Core responsibilities included personnel management, quality assurance and control, regulatory compliance, inventory and equipment management, workflow coordination, statistical analysis, and laboratory information system (LIS) support.

• Personnel management includes supervising the work of others, onboarding new staff, scheduling, training, and competency assessments.
• Quality assurance and controls include management of performance testing, review of quality control data, preparing reports, performing and analyzing validation studies, improvement and implementing corrective action.
• Regulatory compliance for waived, moderate, and high complexity testing to include annual self-inspections, staying current on regulatory changes, participating in accreditation inspections, and timely review of results and testing data.
• Inventory and equipment management includes the ordering reagent and supplies, minimizing waste, maintaining equipment, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Workflow coordination includes monitoring workload and adjusting staffing accordingly while meeting turnaround times, project deadlines, and productivity goals.
• Statistical analysis includes calculating and evaluating linear regression, precision calculations, standard deviation, coefficient of correlation, coefficient of variation.
• Laboratory Information System Support includes functioning as key operator, training staff on system, building test codes, generating reports, adjusting reference ranges, and modifying quality control lot numbers and ranges.

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in moderate complexity testing in clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, molecular, and microbiology.
• Minimum of 2 year of experience in high complexity testing in immunohematology and microbiology.
• Minimum of 1 years of supervisor’s experience or leadership training certificate from CAP, COLA, CDC or equivalent organization
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel or equivalent software
• WV state license as a high-complexity testing technician

• Physical Demands:
  Ability to sit or stand for 4 hours. Ability position or transport light to moderate (up to 20 pounds) amounts of weight.
• Vision Demands:
  Ability to distinguish color and see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
• Hearing Demands:
  Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
• Must be accessible to testing personnel to provide on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation.

Participate and manage health fairs and other community events involving laboratory testing and the promotion of medical laboratory science as a career.

• Bachelor's Degree (Required) in Medical Laboratory Sciencein Medical Laboratory Science

• Amer Soc of Clin Pathology (Required) or equivalent National Certificationor equivalent National Certification
