Job Description

Adventures on the Gorge is a premier outdoor adventure destination located on the rim of the New River Gorge in West Virginia, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Offering world‑class whitewater rafting, ziplining, rock climbing, and more, the resort combines thrilling experiences with cozy accommodations, exceptional dining, and breathtaking views. The Events Coordinator supports the planning and execution of weddings, social events, and group functions at Adventures on the Gorge. This role works closely with clients, the Sales team, F&B, Lodging, and resort operations to ensure seamless event details from inquiry through execution. Responsibilities include confirming event logistics, preparing event orders and timelines, coordinating vendor and venue requirements, and assisting with on‑site event setup.

The Events Coordinator serves as an enthusiastic point of contact for clients and guests, delivering excellent communication and timely responses throughout the planning process.

During events, the coordinator assists with day‑of execution, working alongside banquet, culinary, and operations teams to ensure that each function runs smoothly, meets client expectations, and reflects the resort’s hospitality standards. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment during peak seasons. Success in this position is demonstrated through well‑managed files, accurate event documentation, positive guest feedback, and strong collaboration across departments.

Weekend, holiday, and seasonal availability are required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develops and is accountable for a safety culture that creates a work environment where no one gets hurt.
  • Directly supervises catering operations including such duties as coordination of staff and rental equipment, set‑up, preparation, service, and breakdown of catered foods, beverages, and events of varying size and complexity.
  • Booking events, selecting and costing menu items, and pricing as needed.
  • Assists with hiring, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Coordinates activities with other internal departments.
  • Participates in management team meetings.
  • Collaborate with vendors and key service users within client organization.
  • Facilitate external customer relations; represents Aramark and the client at all meetings and events.
  • Ensures that appropriate sanitation, organization, and safety standards are met using checklists, hands‑on supervision, and follow‑up.
  • Participates in all catering training programs; helps to develop and implement training programs for hourly, part‑time, and student employees.
  • Aid in implementation and adherence to all Aramark Catering initiatives and guidelines.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years operational experience in a hotel/banquet setting required.
  • Prior experience with booking of events preferred.
