General

Summary:

The Housekeeper II is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and welcoming appearance of guest rooms and retreat center meeting areas, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant experience for our guests. Duties include cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking supplies, as well as reporting any maintenance issues. The Housekeeper II also assists that Housekeeping Supervisor and acts as the supervisor in the Supervisor’s absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Guest Room Cleaning:
    Cleaning and preparing guest rooms according to Retreat and Conference Center standards, including making beds, changing linens, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and replenishing amenities.
  • Bathroom Sanitization:
    Thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, ensuring sinks, toilets, showers, and tubs are spotless and stocked with fresh supplies.
  • Floor Care:
    Maintaining clean and polished floors in guest rooms and public areas, including vacuuming, mopping, and spot-cleaning.
  • Furniture and Fixture Maintenance:
    Dusting and polishing furniture, fixtures, and decorative items to maintain a pristine appearance.
  • Public Areas:
    Maintain all the public areas in the villas, the Kelly Center, and the Wisdom Center. This may include but is not limited to the regular cleaning of small appliances such as the coffee maker.
  • Linen and Cloths:
    Wash and store all Marywood linen and other cloths used throughout the center and folding them based on Marywood standards.
  • Restocking Supplies:
    Ensuring guest rooms and public areas are adequately stocked with necessary amenities such as toiletries, towels, and other supplies.
  • Camp I Am:
    Maintaining the cleanliness and sanitization of all Camp sleeping cabins and bathrooms.
  • Reporting Maintenance Issues:
    Identifying and reporting any maintenance problems or safety hazards to the Supervisor.
  • Guest Interaction and Customer Service:
    Addressing guest requests and concerns promptly and professionally, providing excellent customer service. Also forwards any items left by guests to the Supervisor.
  • Safety and Sanitation Procedures:
    Adhering to all health codes, safety regulations, and hygiene protocols, including the handling and storage of chemicals and work-products.
  • Supervision:
    Assist the Housekeeping Supervisor with daily operations. Assign rooms and cleaning areas to housekeepers, as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor. Act as the Housekeeping Supervisor when the Supervisor is absent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have the ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral, and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in general housekeeping is required. One (1) to three (3) years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must have excellent time management and organization skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Must have the ability and experience to work in a respectful team environment with other employees and the center’s guests, and the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clergy, employees, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to respect and work with people of diverse cultures.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal background check and successfully complete the Protecting God’s Children seminar, prior to employment, maintaining this clearance and updated certification.
