Journeyman Information Security Analyst

GovCIO is currently hiring for Journeyman Information Security Analyst to support a mission-critical U.S. Coast Guard program. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in STIG compliance, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation . This position will be located in Kearneysville, WV and will be a hybrid position.

• Execute remediation of legacy STIG and vulnerability findings across all Areas of Responsibility (AOR).

• Analyze vulnerability data, prioritize remediation efforts based on risk, and collaborate with system administrators to address backlog vulnerabilities.

• Validate all remediation activities to ensure compliance with applicable security standards and policies.

• Coordinate with ISSOs to resolve data inconsistencies and meet ATO deadlines for system boundaries.

• Document all remediation processes and outcomes to establish repeatable procedures and maintain compliance.

• Support continuous improvement of security posture through proactive identification and mitigation of vulnerabilities .

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology , Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field with 5 + years (or commensurate e xpertise ) .

Required Skills and Experience

• Clearance:
  Active Secret clearance

• Certifications:
  
  DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA +)

• STIG Expertise:
  Hands-on experience with STIG configuration and remediation for Windows and Linux servers.

• Security Hardening:
  Strong understanding of security principles and standards, with experience in system hardening within government or highly regulated environments.

• Risk Assessment:
  Ability to assess risks and prioritize remediation efforts accordingly.

• Documentation:
  Skilled in creating clear, detailed documentation for security processes and remediation activities .

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience supporting DoD or U.S. Coast Guard environments

• Scripting:
  Proficiency in Power Shell or similar scripting languages for automation of administrative tasks.

• Certifications:
  
  CISSP or equivalent preferred.

• Communication:
  Ability to write and present clear reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
