General Summary

This position is within Qualcomm's Customer Engineering (CE) organization and focuses on system stability, issue triage, and customer escalation support across embedded platforms. The role works closely with customers, internal development teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify, debug, and resolve complex system-level software issues on Qualcomm SoCs from early bring-up through commercialization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a primary technical escalation and triage point for customer-reported system and stability issues
  • Debug complex system-level issues across boot, kernel, drivers, power, memory, and interconnects
  • Perform root cause analysis using logs, dumps, tracing, and hardware debug tools (e.g., Win Dbg, JTAG)
  • Collaborate closely with customer engineering, platform, FW, and HW teams to drive issues to resolution
  • Analyze issues related to: OS crashes, hangs, watchdog resets;
    Memory leaks, heap/stack corruption, resource exhaustion;
    Power management, suspend/resume, performance regressions;
    Driver integration and BSP mismatches
  • Reproduce customer issues in lab environments and validate fixes
  • Track issues across lifecycle and drive closure with ownership and clear communication
  • Provide technical status updates to customers and internal management
  • Contribute to stability improvements, debug guidelines, and best practices
  • Support customer on-site or remote debug activities when required
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of relevant experience OR
  • Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience
Required Technical Skills
  • Strong experience with embedded systems and system-level debugging
  • Solid understanding of OS internals (Windows and/or Linux kernel)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    Windows kernel-mode drivers (KMDF) and/or Linux device drivers; BSP components: boot flow, ACPI, UEFI, device tree
  • Proficiency in C/C++, with debugging-centric development experience
  • Experience using debug tools:
    Win Dbg, crash dump analysis; JTAG / hardware debug tools (Trace
    32 is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of ARM architectures (ARMv8/ARM
    64)
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills and customer-focused attitude
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven ability to integrate AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex) with appropriate model selection (Opus, Sonnet, Haiku) into daily development and debugging workflows.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing custom skills, MCP integrations, and automation scripts that significantly reduce team Time-to-Triage (TTT).
  • Experience supporting IHVs / OEMs / ODMs in a customer engineering role
  • Exposure to both Windows and Linux on embedded platforms
  • Experience debugging:
    Power management (sleep states, rail voting, resume failures);
    Multi-core and multi-processor systems
  • Familiarity with embedded firmware interactions (PMIC, bootloaders, FW services)
  • Experience coordinating cross-team debugging efforts under tight schedules
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers on stability and debug practices
Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
• 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with debugging techniques.
