Senior Systems Engineer

GovCIO LLC seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, and optimize secure, scalable infrastructure for federal customers. You'll lead architecture and integration of cloud and on-prem systems, automate deployments, harden environments to comply with federal security standards, and troubleshoot complex issues across the stack. Collaborating with agile teams, you will guide junior engineers, improve CI/CD pipelines, and drive modernization initiatives that enhance mission-critical government services while working in a collaborative, mission-driven culture that values innovation and work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure, scalable cloud and on-prem infrastructure for federal customers.
• Lead systems architecture, integration, and performance optimization across environments.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployments using infrastructure-as-code and scripting tools.
• Ensure compliance with federal security and governance standards; perform system hardening.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and production issues.
• Collaborate with agile software, security, and product teams to support modernization initiatives.
• Maintain and improve monitoring, logging, backup, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Document architectures, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical best practices and standards.
• Support planning and execution of large-scale migration and transformation projects.
