Responsibilities & Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the design, implementation, engineering and administration of Linux computing systems hardware, software and storage infrastructure supporting a 24x7 mission-critical environment.
• Designs, integrates and implements new Linux server systems, applications and equipment to meet organizational needs and goals.
• Resolves Linux system issues and requests from teams or specific users promptly and accurately.
• Acts as a subject-matter expert and technical support for Linux platform operating systems and applications across the organization. installs and monitors Unix/Linux open-source operating systems and caters to the client's needs.
• Resolves user issues, address change management requests, and identifies potential issues by implementing protective measures.
• Knowledge of Ansible or Puppet and scripting experience (any language).
• Architecting systems infrastructure solutions to deliver business applications and contenting to customers at low latency and high throughput.
• Designing, implementing and supporting Linux computing systems hardware and software infrastructure using the following service models: on premise, co-location data center facility.
• Application Service Provider (ASP), managed hosted, SaaS cloud, PaaS cloud, IaaS cloud and hybrid.
• Perform Linux OS Engineer
  - Mid duties for the DIA CIO Infrastructure Services program in accordance with approved technical, security, quality, configuration, and change-control processes.
• Coordinate assigned activities with Government representatives, program leadership, engineering, operations, cybersecurity, service owners, and other mission partners.
• Maintain accurate technical, operational, and status documentation; identify risks, issues, dependencies, and corrective actions affecting assigned work.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance are required. A polygraph will be required for the position, and the employee must obtain and maintain all customer-mandated system and facility access.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an area applicable to the position plus at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • OR Qualifying education and experience combinations: HS/GED plus 8 years; associate plus 6 years; bachelor plus 4 years; master plus 2 years;
    PhD plus 0 years.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II minimum; transition to the Government-designated DoD 8140 work-role qualification is required.
• Demonstrated mid-level proficiency performing Linux OS Engineer
  - Mid responsibilities in classified or mission-critical information technology environments.
• Career level with a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts.
• Working under only general direction, provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of an integrated technical team.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• One or more of the following are desired:
  Security+, RHCSA or RHCE.
• A certification satisfying the next higher applicable DoD 8570 category or the corresponding DoD 8140 proficiency level is preferred.
• Current training and hands-on experience with the tools, platforms, and mission processes used by the assigned service lane are preferred.
