Job Description
The Compressor Station Operator is a multi‑skilled position responsible for the operation and maintenance of gathering system compressor stations.
Responsibilities include:
- Daily documentation of equipment, housekeeping, and maximizing throughput.
- Minor maintenance on engines, compressors, separators, generators, flares, dehydraters, VRUs, and coolers.
- Locating pipelines around the compressor station.
- Work with craft personnel to resolve equipment/system problems promptly.
- Operate compressor stations including Caterpillar & Waukesha engines driving Aerial compressors.
- Troubleshoot abnormal operations and coordinate monitoring of contractor personnel.
- Identify emergency situations and initiate emergency response procedures.
- Complete and maintain required reports and logs.
- Monitor and adjust equipment to maintain optimum availability and efficiency.
- Efficiently and safely operate natural gas compressor stations and associated midstream equipment.
- Work within guidelines and parameters established by Shale Pro Energy Services for safety and operations.
- Read and record amounts of natural gas, condensate, and production water/brine.
- Report operational temperature and pressure parameters as needed in operating logs.
- Observe and inspect equipment to confirm it is working properly.
- Document readings such as temperature, pressure and runtime hours.
- Monitor and report the availability of the compressor units.
- Inspect, maintain and repair basic equipment as needed.
- Ensure all field equipment complies with emissions guidelines and standards.
- On‑call responsibility as needed.
- Maintain current safety orientation and follow all PPE requirements.
- Manage all activities with a focus on safety and compliance.
- Use proper tools and equipment for integrity management and regulatory tasks on pipelines.
- Monitor activity in and around pipeline and facilities and respond as necessary to protect system integrity.
- Maintain required forms, records and reports (daily logs, EAM, shift reports).
- Understand and support clients' reporting procedures for abnormal operations, safety and environmental conditions.
- Respond to emergencies, perform cleanup and corrosion control activities.
- Communicate safety and environmental concerns and propose corrective actions.
- Follow good housekeeping practices and maintain equipment and vehicles.
- Follow Shale Pro Energy Services fatigue program.
- Lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Work days, nights, weekends & holidays.
- Perform all essential duties.
- Demonstrate customer service skills.
- Read, write and speak English.
- Model all health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Use computer skills, including vendor‑specific programs (Cat, Waukesha, Ariel, Murphy, etc.), Internet Explorer and Outlook.
- Regularly complete and submit company required documentation accurately and timely.
- Respond to after‑hours requests on an on‑call basis.
- Ability to work 12‑16 hours straight while managing rest during time off.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Gas or Diesel Mechanics preferred.
- Entry Level Starting @ $20/hr.
- Additional Pay based on field related experience.
