Role

An Assistant Vice President Branch Market’s primary responsibility is to facilitate the growth and development of the branch with total deposits under $100 million while ensuring exceptional member service is being delivered. The role involves supervising the Assistant Market Manager and/or Financial Service Specialists and overseeing the member services operations of the branch. The Assistant Vice President Branch Market is also responsible for exercising independent judgment in branch operations and staffing, and providing a full array of deposit and lending services.

Several Service 1st branches utilize a unique retail‑operation branch design. The ‘in‑store’ model provides a high‑touch, member‑centric sales and service delivery strategy. There is no traditional teller counter; members are greeted by a team member and conduct transactions at freestanding ‘pods’ in a casual, conversational atmosphere.

The position is eligible for a hybrid work‑from‑home schedule, as set and approved by the position’s manager in accordance with the credit union’s Remote Work policy.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • 30% – Monitors branch operating results relative to established objectives and ensures appropriate steps are taken to correct unsatisfactory conditions.
  • 25% – Provides deposit services information to members and recommends appropriate products to meet their needs; manages the lending function for the branch.
  • 15% – Hires, reviews, schedules, trains, and monitors the work of branch personnel; conducts performance reviews and allocates resources to meet operational needs within the department.
  • 10% – Maintains communications with main office and management, prepares and submits standard reports, and attends scheduled management meetings.
  • 10% – Represents the branch and credit union in relationships with members, sponsor organizations, suppliers, other financial institutions and similar groups.
  • 5% – Monitors all branch activities to ensure compliance with established credit union policies and procedures.
  • 5% – Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
  • Performance Measurements
  • Provide informed, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates.
  • Maintain or exceed annual budgeted branch operating and growth plan while enhancing the branch’s financial stability.
  • Effectively evaluate branch efficiency and develop specific recommendations for improvements to personnel, facilities, products, pricing, policies, and processes.
  • Meet or exceed the established budgeted branch goals each month and ensure the attainment of goals for each individual branch team member.
  • Research and execute deposit growth strategies for the branch; provide deposit services information and recommend appropriate products.
  • Manage the lending function for the branch, including interview applicants, determine collateral needs and payment plans, review, process and close loan applications, and disburse funds.
  • Promote a sales culture within the branch by example and coach employees to identify cross‑sale opportunities.
  • Supervise member service operations, monitor activity, and ensure quality service while adjusting workloads; train, motivate, schedule and evaluate staff, and recommend hiring, promotion and termination.
  • Keep management informed of branch activities and employee performance; recommend improvements and implement approved recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain business partner relationships with the community, calling on Select Employee Groups and coordinating branch participation in community activities.
  • Initiate and actively develop relationships with top depositors, profitable members, and key membership groups identified for the branch.
  • Assist in researching and developing products and services that benefit branch demographics and present ideas to management.
  • Monitor branch cash fund, including disbursement, replenishment and reconciliation; order weekly vault cash shipment; verify daily balances for Member Service Representatives.
