Description
The West Virginia Water Research Institute at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Brownfield Redevelopment Project Manager – Design & Planning.
About the OpportunityThe Brownfields Redevelopment Project Manager – Design & Planning will oversee brownfield redevelopment and technical assistance initiatives focused on design and planning support for a range of projects in West Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic. This will include facilitation of community meetings on project design; community interaction and outreach; project management; capacity building; and developing relationships with local, state, and federal partners.
Through existing and new technical assistance programs, this position will help communities establish environmental, community, and economic development initiatives that will enhance the well-being and quality of life of the people of West Virginia and the broader region, attract investment to communities, and maximize resources in the state.
This position will lead the implementation of site-specific and community-wide technical assistance, including the facilitation and creation of site design and planning activities. The incumbent will also, in partnership with the Director and other staff, identify priorities and opportunities for expansion of services associated with state and regional technical assistance. The incumbent will assist with proposal development, facilitating meetings with project stakeholders, day-to-day tasks of the BAC.
They will also work with communities on brownfield-related issues and downtown redevelopment.
The position will collaborate with other staff and partners to provide communities within WV and throughout EPA Region 3 with comprehensive technical assistance (TA). Technical assistance may consist of redevelopment support, beginning with brownfield identification through brownfield cleanup or site reuse.
This position provides program, as well as direct internal and external project support services. Responds to inquiries and independently resolves matters of moderate complexity. Responsibilities require some judgment, resourcefulness, and originality, but diverse guides and precedents are usually available to apply or adapt to the circumstances. Work effort has considerable impact on client services, program and project image, with potential legal liabilities.

- Complete the development of reuse project designs for assigned projects.
- Serve as the project contact for communities and local projects as assigned, including the management of communications with community stakeholders and facilitation of community development activities, such as creating and presenting materials in public meetings and synthesizing stakeholder input on projects.
