Under the general direction of the Assistant Youth Center Director, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and staff. Primary duties include staff supervision, reviewing and preparing shift documentation, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring residents receive appropriate medical attention.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- The job requires knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in human services, behavioral sciences, psychology, criminal justice, sociology, or related field with two years of experience with at risk youth and/or two years of direct supervisory experience or;
- Two years of college from an accredited college or university and 3 years of work experience or;
- A high School Diploma and 4 years of work experience in a child caring institution.
- Teaching or facilitation skills in group management and/or recreation are strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Word.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with County personnel, residents, and the general public in situations requiring tact and patience.
- Ability to manage simultaneously, maintain attention.
- to detail with frequent interruptions, and effectively respond to various pressures involving youth, staff, and the public.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups from a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies.
The Shift Supervisor oversees Youth Specialists assigned to their shift. This includes providing direction, guidance, coaching, and discipline as needed. While the total Youth Specialist workforce may include up to 25-30 staff, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising any staff scheduled during their shift.
